An annual favorite, the renowned San Francisco Symphony performed with
conductor James Gaffigan.
The program included Verdi’s Overture to La forza del destino, Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on
a Theme of Paganini, Opus 43 with Orli Shaham on piano, and Tchaikovsky's
Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Opus 36.
Shaham impressed the crowd with her solo performance.
The Symphony Jazz Sextet opened the afternoon with a short set of works by
some of the great jazz legends. The Sextet featured:
William Ritchen – acoustic & electric bass
Paul Brancato - violin
Raymond Froehlich - drums
Christina King - viola
Bevan Manson – acoustic & electric piano
Amos Yang - cello
Additional support was provided by the Consulate General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest, celebrating Israel’s 60th anniversary.
