Stern Grove Festival’s 72nd Season finale featured the renowned San Francisco Opera and soprano Sylvia McNair in a celebration of the 90th birthday of Leonard Bernstein, featuring his works and those of composers who influenced him including, Gershwin, Copland, and Kern.

Sylvia McNair, an alumna of the prestigious Merola Opera Program, was joined by other Merola alumni, as well as current or former San Francisco Opera Center Adler Fellows: Karen Slack and Tamara Wapinsky, sopranos; Catherine Cook, mezzo-soprano; Thomas Glenn, tenor; Eugene Brancoveanu, baritone; and Kenneth Kellogg, bass.

The San Francisco Opera Orchestra performed with conductor John DeMain.

This performance was dedicated to the memory of Elise S. Haas, Festival Chair from 1956 to 1968.
