The San Francisco Symphony sets the highest possible standard for excellence in musical performance at home and around the world. SFS enriches, serves, and shapes cultural life throughout Bay Area communities while maintaining financial stability and gaining public recognition as a means of ensuring its ability to fulfill its mission. The symphony has a history of educational programs dating back to 1919. Adventures in Music (AIM) is provided by the SFS at no cost to the schools and reaches all San Francisco Unified School District students in grades one through five. AIM also sustains a committed partnership with a number of parochial and independent schools, serving nearly 23,000 students annually. Concerts for Kids serves more than 25,000 Bay Area school children each season. SFS’s Classical Instrument Petting Zoo allows kids to try out a new sound with the help the symphony’s musicians.
