Delhi 2 Dublin

Delhi 2 Dublin’s five piece ensemble brings together the distinct sounds of Bollywood and Celtic traditions in an explosive way. Featuring Tarun Nayar on the tabla, Kytami’s violin, Ravi Binning with the dhol, Andrew Kim and the sitar, and vocals led by Sanjay Seran, the group’s sound melds their diverse ancestries.

The Vancouver-based band’s second album, Remixed, was released in the spring of 2009 and takes listeners on a journey across continents. A dance-hall worthy piece, “Dil Nachde Swamified Remix” is interrupted by a fiery fiddle. “Apples” begins with that same fiddle and quickly melds into trance-like rhythms inspired by Bollywood. The BBC described the album as “eerie and enigmatic” as well as “dubby and mesmeric.” Delhi 2 Dublin’s unique sounds and adrenaline pumping stage presence earned them the honor of opening Canada Day in 2007, where they were joined on stage by three different dance groups, displaying their ability to bring danceable beats to all nations.

Currently touring worldwide, the band has been in high demand, including being featured at San Francisco’s Non Stop Bhangra, The Vancouver Folk-Music Festival, and will be lighting up the stage at Bumbershoot in Seattle this year.In their own words, Delhi 2 Dublin “looks forward to taking [their] unique sound and philosophy around the globe!”
