Na Leo, formerly Na Leo Pilimehana (“voices blended in warmth”) were the first female Hawaiian group to make national charts in contemporary music, headline at the House of Blues in Los Angeles, and release albums in Japan as a pop group. Na Leo consists of Nalani Choy, Lehua Kalima-Heine, and Angela Morales. The award-wining trio captures the spirit of traditional Hawaiian music and island sentiments with soft, soulful vocals and nostalgic harmonies.

The group first met with success as high school seniors when their song entry, “Local Boys,” in an amateur music contest won the group an album deal. While the album Local Boys garnered a Na Hoku Hanohano Award (Hawaiian Music Award, “Hoku”) for Single of the Year, it failed to sell well enough to cover costs. Discouraged, the trio decided to focus on college and their families.

Nine years later in 1994, Na Leo teamed up again and released the album Friends. The title song garnered the group another Hoku Award for Single of the Year. The group formed their own record label, NLP Music and in 1995, released Flying with Angels which won four Hoku Awards. The success of the album, and a partnership with Sony-Japan to distribute records in Japan, convinced the group to focus full time on their music.

Na Leo have released 18 CDs, won over 20 Hoku Awards, and have consistently risen to the top of the Billboards. Their latest release and 14th album, Where I Live There Are Rainbows, captures the Aloha spirit of Hawaii with lush, romantic tracks. Guest artists on the album include Kawika Kahiapo and Ben Vegas, an award-winning Hawaii producer and solo artist.

"Na Leo Pilimehana could easily coast ater 17 Hoku Awards but there's no sign of artistic complacency here...All three continue to excel as vocalists. Their haromonies are enchanting throughout." - Honolulu Star-Bulletin
