Legendary R&B songstress Roberta Flack inaugurated Stern Grove’s 72nd Season with her sultry vocals and powerful lyrics. With hit singles like “Killing Me Softly” and multiple Grammies to boot, Ms. Flack’s undeniable talent and influential catalog of work wowed the Grove audience.

Ms. Flack was joined by the honorary "Piano Prince of New Orleans," Davell Crawford. Crawford proved that the traditions of Cajun and American Roots rhythms are alive and kicking through his emotional and passionate performance.

Today’s performance is dedicated to the memory of Rosalie M. Stern, donor of Sigmund Stern Grove to the people of San Francisco and founder of the Stern Grove Festival Association.
