Escape to the Islands at Stern Grove Festival

Hapa, one of Hawaii’s most popular recording groups, incorporated oli, or traditional chant, with virtuoso slack key guitar and modern sounds for a beautiful afternoon at the Grove.

The Academy of Hawaiian Arts, based in Oakland, kept the culture of the Islands alive with beautiful and intricate hula performances.

Today’s performance is made possible with support from the Rhoda H. Goldman Memorial Fund and is dedicated to the memory of Rhoda H. Goldman, Festival Chair from 1968 to 1996.
