This Privacy Policy describes the privacy practices of the Stern Grove Festival Association. Stern Grove Festival Association (“Stern Grove”, “we”, “us” “our”) is a non-profit organization that manages the Stern Grove Festival. We manage attendee admissions to the festival, coordinate volunteer efforts, handle donations from our supporters and conduct meaningful outreach activities in connection with the Stern Grove Festival (collectively, the “Services”). 

This Privacy Policy details how we collect, use and share the personal information of:

  • Attendees: Individuals that attend the Stern Grove Festival.

  • Vendors: Businesses we partner with to provide goods and services at the Stern Grove Festival. 

  • Website Visitors: Individuals – such as donors, attendees, employees, vendors or other individuals who visit or interact with the Stern Grove website.

  • Donors: Individuals that make donations or gifts to us.

  • Volunteers:  Individuals and businesses that partner with us to manage the Stern Grove Festival and engage in other charitable activities in our community.


Personal Information We Collect 

Information you provide to us. Personal information you may provide to us through the Services or otherwise may include:

  • Contact information, such as your first and last name, professional title, employer data, address, email address, and phone number.

  • Biographical information, such as your age, race, gender, professional affiliations, interests in charitable causes, COVID-19 vaccination status and occupation.

  • Payment and transaction data that our payment service providers collect to process your payments, such as your donations or contributions related to the operations of the Stern Grove Festival. We do not have access to payment card numbers. The information you provide in connection with your purchases is handled by our third-party payment processors, such as Venmo, PayPal, or Clover, in accordance with their terms of service and privacy policies. 

  • Transaction history, including your donations or other engagement history.

  • Communications that we retain from any support requests you submit, questions you may send us about marketing, job opportunities, etc.

  • Marketing data, such as your preferences for receiving our marketing communications, and details about your engagement with those communications.

Other information that we may collect which is not specifically listed here, but which we will use in accordance with this Privacy Policy or as otherwise disclosed at the time of collection.

Automatic data collection. Using cookies, web beacons and other tracking tools, we and our service providers may automatically log and combine information about you, your computer or mobile device, and your interaction over time with the Services, online resources, and our communications, such as:

  • Device data such as your computer’s or mobile device’s operating system type and version, manufacturer and model, browser type, screen resolution, device type (e.g., phone, tablet), IP address, unique identifiers, language settings, and general location information such as city, state, or geographic area.

  • Online activity data such as pages or screens you viewed, how long you spent on a page or screen, the website you visited before browsing to the Services, navigation paths between pages or screens, information about your activity on a page or screen, access times, duration of access, and whether you have opened or otherwise engage with our communications, such as our marketing emails or clicked links within them. Information we obtain from other sources:

  • Event management platforms, such as your first name, last name, email address, ethnicity, race and other information you provide in order to register for an event.

  • Other third parties.  We may obtain personal information from other third parties, such as marketing partners, publicly-available sources, and data providers.

  • Social media platforms. We may receive information about your activity when you follow us on social media and networking platforms such as Facebook or Twitter. 


How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information for the following purposes:

Provide our Services, including:

  • To fulfill our contractual obligations;

  • To process donations and complete transactions;

  • Respond to requests, questions, and feedback;

Communicate with you about our Services, including to respond to your requests, inform you of event donation opportunities, and to communicate with you about our Services, including by sending announcements, surveys, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages.

Improve, monitor, and personalize the Services, including by understanding your needs and interests, and personalizing your experience with the Services and our communications.

Direct marketing: We may send you direct marketing communications promoting our Services, events, programs or other services that we believe are of interest. Recipients can opt out of our marketing communications as described in the Opt out of marketing communications section below; and

Research and development. We may use personal information for research and development purposes, including to analyze and improve the Services and our business. As part of these activities, we may create or use aggregated, de-identified or other anonymized data from personal information we collect. We may use this anonymized data plus share it with third parties for our lawful business purposes, including to analyze and improve the Services and promote our business. 

Compliance with law, including to:

  • Comply with applicable laws, lawful requests, and legal process, such as to respond to subpoenas or requests from government authorities;

  • Protect our, your, or others’ rights, privacy, safety, or property (including by making and defending legal claims);

  • Audit our internal processes for compliance with legal and contractual requirements and internal policies;

  • Enforce the terms and conditions that govern our Services; and

  • Prevent, identify, investigate, and deter fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, unethical, or illegal activity, including cyberattacks and identity theft.


Disclosure of Personal Information

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Service providers. Companies and individuals that provide services on our behalf or help us operate our Services (such as hosting, information technology, customer support, email delivery, and website analytics services).

  • Employers. When you make a donation that is part of a campaign sponsored by your employer, and/or when your employer is being asked to match your donation, we may share your name and the amount of you donation with your employer. We may also identify you as a donor on our website (including listing your name and amount donated), for example in annual reports or annual tax returns.

  • Professional advisors. Professional advisors, such as lawyers, auditors, bankers, and insurers, in the course of the professional services that they render to us.

  • Authorities and others. Law enforcement, government authorities, and private parties, as we believe in good faith to be necessary or appropriate for the compliance with law purposes described above.

  • Business transferees. Acquirers and other relevant participants in business transactions (or negotiations for such transactions) involving a corporate divestiture, merger, consolidation, acquisition, reorganization, sale, or other disposition of all or any portion of the business or assets of, or equity interests in, Stern Grove, our subsidiaries or our affiliates (including in connection with a bankruptcy or similar proceedings).

With the public. If you decide to participate in one of our Services’ features, such as sharing information on our website, you make this information available to website users and the general public.

Privacy Choices

Opt-out of marketing communications. You can opt out of marketing-related emails by following the opt-out or unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of the emails you receive from us. If you do so, you will continue to receive service-related and other non-marketing emails until you cease using our Services linked to those service updates. 

Third-Party Services

Our Services can contain links to websites and other online services operated by third parties. In addition, our content can be integrated into web pages or other online services that are not associated with us. These links and integrations are not an endorsement of or representation that we are affiliated with any third party. We do not control websites or online services operated by third parties, and we are not responsible for their actions.

Information Security

We employ a number of technical, organizational, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we collect. However, no security measures are failsafe and we cannot guarantee the security of personal information.

Children’s Privacy

Our Services are not intended for use by children under 18 years of age. If we learn that we have collected personal information through our services from a child under 18 without the consent of the child’s parent or guardian as required by law, we will delete it.


Retention

We retain personal information for as long as appropriate to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements, to establish or defend legal claims, or for fraud prevention purposes.
